About
For Dan Hawley, working with adolescents through complex life challenges isn’t just a clinical career—it is a personal calling. Dan specializes in guiding young men through delicate, multi-faceted mental health issues by building genuine trust and rapport from day one. He understands that healing requires more than a single therapeutic approach, which is why he adapts his clinical toolset—drawing from trauma-informed, solution-focused, behavioral, and experiential therapies—to meet each student where they are.
Parents often appreciate Dan’s calm, reassuring presence when navigating high-stakes or sensitive family situations. He skillfully balances deep compassion with direct, goal-oriented accountability. Rather than applying rigid answers, Dan brings thoughtful curiosity to every session, helping boys identify underlying patterns, make sense of what is keeping them stuck, and develop the emotional maturity necessary to transition into healthy, grounded men.
Dan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Utah with nearly a decade of experience across private practice and residential mental healthcare settings. Throughout his career, he has specialized in helping adolescents, couples, and adults navigate trauma, behavioral difficulties, and complex mental health conditions.
Dan earned his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and his Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Psychology from Utah Valley University. He is officially certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDRIA, allowing him to deliver specialized evidence-based trauma treatment to students processing deep-seated emotional pain.
Outside of his clinical work at Oxbow Academy, Dan enjoys spending quality time with his wife, family, and pets. A lifelong learner, he loves diving into non-fiction books on psychology and history, tinkering with home improvement projects, keeping up with the latest technology, and unwinding with a good movie or a sharp sense of humor.
