Three times yearly Oxbow parents are invited to attend Parent Seminar. Usually held in Provo, Utah, this two-day event gives parents an opportunity to meet with their students’ therapists, as well as their academic instructors. Key staff members are also on hand. Parents become better acquainted with the Oxbow family and, if they choose, other parents who also have students enrolled.
Placing a child at Oxbow is the beginning of a therapeutic journey that often leaves parents feeling isolated from their peers. The goal of this seminar is to provide useful clinical tools and a support system for families in treatment. We do this through a series of workshops and group discussions.
The opportunity to talk with or listen to other Oxbow parents who are having similar experiences provides encouragement and acceptance. It gives parents another resource for healing themselves and their families. Although attendance is not required, we strongly encourage parents to participate.
There is no additional charge for the workshops themselves. Families are responsible for airfare and lodging and will be notified of seminar dates far enough in advance to take advantage of the best possible prices.
“We loved spending time with our son throughout the program. The therapy we received was invaluable and we were able to take an intimate look at why our son was progressing as fast as he did. Top notch program. Thank you, and yes we would recommend this program to anyone.” – Mom
