Teancum Tupuimatagi Faumui is a therapist at Oxbow Academy and excited to be a part of the amazing clinical team. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work from Brigham Young University. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Utah Valley University. He also has an Associates’s degree through Snow College.

Teancum has had a variety of experiences that prepare him for helping teens with sex-specific issues. He has worked as a mentor at a residential treatment center allowing him insight into how important and influential a mentor can be for the boys he now works with. He managed groups for adult sex offenders in the county jail. He also had experience working as a case manager for a crisis center. And he was able to intern at Oxbow Academy for a semester during his schooling as a therapist prior to being hired full time, which has allowed him to really learn and understand the therapeutic process at the program.

Teancum has been trained in trauma-informed clinical social work practice. In his treatment process, he often uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-focused modalities.

Teancum has always loved working with youth. He finds working with youth challenging but rewarding. Teacum considers being able to give a young man a second chance at life as the most rewarding thing someone can do.
