Determined, respectful, patient and dedicated is ultimately what makes Roman perfect for this “house mom” position. Oxbow Academy is proud to have her as the coordinator at East House and hopes the families know she can be reached out to for questions about their son anytime.
Amanda heard of Oxbow Academy while being raised in Mount Pleasant, and finally decided to apply. She is glad she did. “It has been so rewarding.” She explains, “when you see the changes in the boys, and to feel that I may actually be apart of that difference.” Over the years, she has come to a better understanding of the boy’s needs and it has helped her be able to serve them better.
Originally, she was hired at Oxbow as a peer mentor, then moved to shift supervisor and medical assistant, and now, she serves as the East House Coordinator. “I love it, and I feel great support from our staff.”
Roman has her Associates Degree, as well as years of experience working with this company. “Throughout my life, I have gained an understanding that people do need help through hard times and to turn their life around.” She continues, “I feel like I could be that person to help guide someone in the right direction.”
Outside of work, Roman enjoys time with her family, especially camping and fishing.
